This images above give an example of the extrodinary observations that can be made with radio interferometry. These are images looking right into the very center of our galaxy. The image at right was made at 1610MHz using the B configuration. It shows the center of our galaxy where there is thought to be a black hole. The heart shaped area at the bottom of this image is enlarged in a image made in the D configuration at 4714 MHz. This image spans only 30 arc-seconds. |
